Perinatal Center of Iowa (PCI) has been serving the obstetric community of central Iowa for more than 10 years. We partner with referring physicians to help optimize the outcomes of pregnant women in central Iowa. Apart from the PCI office in Des Moines, PCI physicians travel to Grinnell, Mason City, Ottumwa and Pella on a monthly basis to help bring expert care closer to patients.   • Registered ultrasonographers with combined experience of more than 60 years doing obstetric ultrasounds
  • Central Iowa’s only certified prenatal genetics counselor working in Des Moines

NIH Progesterone Study

A National Institutes of Health study recently found that the hormone progesterone reduced the rate of preterm birth before week 33 of pregnancy by 45 percent among one category of at-risk women.

The results were recently published online in “Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology.” Perinatal Center of Iowa–PCI was the only study location in Iowa.
