Fetal Echocardiogram

A fetal echocardiogram is a targeted evaluation of the fetal heart performed by a physician after week 18 of pregnancy.

Fetal echocardiograms are generally offered for:

  • Couples with a family history of congenital heart disease
  • Women with preexisting diabetes, Lupus and PKU (Phenylketonuria)
  • Women who have been exposed to certain medications or chemicals during pregnancy
